A Con Edison Music Masters Event
Master of the Hammond B-3 organ for more than five decades, Dr. Lonnie Smith is an unparalleled figure in the soul-jazz movement. Recently honored by the National Endowment for the Arts as a 2017 Jazz Master, the nation’s highest award in jazz, he has been featured on more than 70 albums and has performed with a virtual “Who’s Who” of the greatest jazz, blues, and R&B giants in the industry. Always ahead of the curve, his unpredictable, insatiable musical taste has led him to record everything from covers of the Beatles, the Stylistics, and the Eurythmics, to tribute albums of Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, and Beck. Performing with his trio, the good doctor gives a generous dose of funky soul and deep jazz sounds.
