Faculty Recital: Mirian Conti, piano
Eminennt Argentine/American pianist Mirian Conti and Professor here at the Conservatory of Music, enjoys a worldwide reputation as a musician whose performances combine technical brilliance with striking originality and artistic insight. Stylistically assured in a wide range of repertoire, Ms. Conti’s prolific recording output and international concerts have garnered praise and awards in recognition of her extraordinary talent.
Ms.Conti has appeared worldwide as soloist and with many orchestras in Europe, Asia, Africa, South and Central America, Canada and throughout the U.S. She has made solo, orchestral and chamber appearances at Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Weill Recital Hall, and at Carnegie Hall, and has performed at numerous concert halls throughout the world, including the Teatro Colón in her native Argentina. --- Excerpted from Mirian Conti's website
Prof.Conti is noted for a special affinity for the music of her Argentinian countryman, pianist and Oscar-nominated composer Lalo Schifrin, who has written the scores to over a hundred films and televisioin shows including well-known themes for major blockbuster features like MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, COOL HAND LUKE, and BULLET, and even the theme-music for WABC's Eyewitness News in New York.
