Redhawk Native American Dancers

The indigenous artists and educators of Redhawk will introduce your students to the different traditions of the various Native American Nations. Wearing traditional regalia of buckskin, beadwork, and eagle feathers, they share Native American songs, stories, dances, and beliefs from different regions of the United States, as well as discussing contemporary Native American culture as a way to break stereotypes.

Grades: K—5
Running Time: 55 minutes
Curriculum Connections: Language Arts (Storytelling, Oral Communication), Social Studies (Native-American Studies)

One free chaperone ticket provided for every 15 tickets purchased. Advance purchase required.

About the artists: Founded in 1994 by Native American artists and educators, The Redhawk Native American Arts Council is dedicated to educating the general public about Native American heritage through song, dance, theater, works of art and other cultural forms of expression. The Council represents artists from North, South, and Central American, Caribbean, and Polynesian Indigenous cultures. Redhawk Council produces four of the largest heritage celebrations in the Northeast and also hosts festivals, workshops, theater presentations and educational programs, addressing stereotypes and fostering an awareness of Native cultures from a historical standpoint, with a focus on contemporary cultural practices.
